New Netbook: HP Mini 1030NR
February 15, 2009So I recently purchased a new Netbook from Best Buy. So far my
experience with this Netbook has been very well. It’s fast enough for me to run Windows Live Writer, Google Chrome and various Instant Messaging Clients as well. The specs of the mini-laptop are:
- Intel Atom N270 1.6GHz
- 1gb DDR2
- 16gb SSD (Solid State Drive)
- wireless / webcam
- NO BLUETOOTH

The Netbook looks extremely sleek. I had actually been looking into getting the MSI Wind U120 instead, but when I visited Best Buy I simply fell in love with the swirly design on the outside of this one. The keyboard also feels extremely nice and is easy to type on. I was fairly concerned with the battery only being a 3-cell, however so far off of the first charge it’s lasted me for well over 3 hours which is probably more than enough time between outlets.
So overall:
Pros:
- Sleek with cool design on the clamshell.
- Easy to type on keyboard
- 10.2” Display that looks great with the 1024×768 display.
- Pretty good battery life with 3 cell battery makes this Netbook lightweight.
- Good processing speed, SSD makes for quicker boot-up and expandable memory via HP’s memory port.
Cons:
- No Bluetooth
- No HSPDA or other cell provider service built in.
- Power and Wi-Fi switch feel stiff or sticky to use.
- Seems to be a fingerprint magnet on the outside.
